Scion Life Sciences

New York City venture firm that founds and builds biotechnology companies developing curative or clinically transformative medicines, backed by a $310m inaugural fund.

Scion Life Sciences is a life sciences venture capital firm based in New York City. It founds, finances and develops biotechnology companies working on medicines intended to be clinically transformative or curative, with a stated focus on serious and life-threatening diseases. Rather than operating primarily as a passive investor, the firm creates companies itself - a founding-and-building model in which it is involved from inception through maturity.

The firm closed its inaugural fund in February 2024 with $310 million in capital commitments. It is an affiliate of Petrichor. Its technical scope spans biotechnology company formation, drug discovery and development, clinical development, and therapeutic modalities and technologies, with an emphasis on translating academic and industry innovations into new ventures.

Alongside capital, Scion provides operational support through Scion Innovations, an in-house research and development capability and set of operational resources established to serve portfolio companies. The firm describes a long-term investment horizon and an active operational role in the companies it builds.
