Phira Ventures is a Lisbon and New York based venture studio, partnering with exceptional talent to build businesses that deliver tangible value to communities and markets. We provide ideas, capital, and operational firepower to help bring a vision to life. Finding outstanding talent Find young, talented aspiring entrepreneurs who are very driven and would love to run their own business but have no good business ideas, access to capital or talent or a co-founder team. We will provide ideas (we have plenty!), capital, co-founders and an infrastructure to get a venture off the ground fast. We provide plenty of training, mentoring and an access to a network. What we expect in return? Dedication, an unshakeable will to succeed and a growth mindset. Investing in smart founders We invest in founders who already have a concept or even an existing startup but need both capital and some targeted support. E.g. in marketing, finance, legal, supply chain, software & design, product development, recruitment, international expansion or general strategy. Here we would seek to be most helpful investors on a startup's cap table. Incubate bold ideas ‍We completely incubate a venture ourselves. In some cases, we will have enough team capacity to build a business from scratch without finding a founder. We have many oven-ready ideas and have developed a lean and fast go to market strategy. We help student founders build the future. Building a company as a student is really, really, hard. We’re here to support you by arming you with a powerful investor network, world-class mentors, and capital to help you move faster. The backstory In 2012, Josh Kopelman, the founder of First Round Capital, had a spicy idea. What if we brought together a group of all-start aspiring VCs and startup operators– who happened to be students– and asked them to seek out the best student founders building the next wave of great companies? They’d know better than the suits which of their friends, classmates, teammates, and lab partners were still in stealth building the next incredible thing, and who’s just chasing clout. Thus, Dorm Room Fund was born. And it turns out we were on to something. Since then, DRF has invested in over 300 companies led by visionary student founders. Those founders have redefined industries, gone public, and are changing the world. And our student investment partners are investors at world-class funds, operators at hot startups and FAANG companies, and unicorn founders themselves. In 2021, Dorm Room Fund started investing out of our first independent fund, backed by a collection of some of the best funds, VCs, institutional investors, and many of our alumni. Having graduated from our amazing launchpad at First Round Capital, we are honored to have brought more investors around the table to supercharge what we can do for our founders and community. Pioneer is a home for founders on day 0. We believe there are thousands (maybe millions!) of potentially great founders around the world who don't have the resources or opportunities to take the leap to start companies. We scour the Internet to find those people, bring them into our community of founders, help them incorporate, fund them, put them through a 2-month accelerator program, introduce them to experts in their field, and much more. In our 3 years since launching, we've funded 200+ founders from 50+ countries. Our Pioneers have gone on to raise from Sequoia, a16z, Y Combinator, Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst, Village Global, and many more VCs & angels. We're a small team of 5 who are optimistic we can find brilliance in places the world has overlooked. OUR CHALLENGES Pioneer isn't just an accelerator - it's a generator. We want to motivate people to become the best versions of themselves, to take their crazy ideas more seriously, and to make betting on themselves less daunting. If we do what we've set out to, we'll not just fund successful startups that might not have otherwise worked out - we'll fund ones that wouldn't have existed at all. Falak Startups’ mission is to find and empower talented and ambitious seed-stage tech startup founders and help them thrive in the region’s rapidly changing entrepreneurship landscape. Our sector-agnostic offering focuses on improving startups’ product-market fit; fine-tuning their business, operating and revenue models; growing their customer base; and raising follow-on investments. We arm entrepreneurs with the necessary tools, resources, and networks to develop their strategies and scale up their businesses. Our offering entails equity investment, growth hacking, networking, mentorship, training, and a wide variety of perks and benefits. After meeting the needed KPIs, our founders are able to showcase their startups on our Virtual Stage platform, a tool for connecting with potential investors, policymakers, stakeholders, and partners. Our support is ongoing through the startups’ journey. We are a constant advisor and advocate for all our portfolio companies.
