Polytechnique Ventures

Alumni-financed early-stage fund investing pre-seed to Series A in deep-tech startups linked to École Polytechnique, alongside capital and expert networks.

Polytechnique Ventures is an early-stage investment fund financed by alumni of École Polytechnique and established in 2020. Its mandate is narrow by design: it backs startups founded by alumni of the school, originating in its laboratories, or incubated on campus. The fund invests from pre-seed and seed through Series A, typically alongside other investors rather than as sole backer.

Investment focus sits in deep tech and research-driven ventures - scientific and technical innovation with the ambition of being commercialised. Selection criteria emphasise strong founding teams, distinctive technology, and solutions with economic or societal relevance, with particular interest in ambitious deep-tech projects. The geographic base is the École Polytechnique ecosystem in France.

Alongside capital, the fund provides founders with access to the campus relationship, including incubators and technical facilities, and a network of scientific, technological, industrial, strategic and commercial experts. The positioning is that of a specialist, ecosystem-anchored investor supporting the transition of research and technical ideas into companies, rather than a generalist early-stage manager.
