About the job

Company Description

Meravo Capital is an operationally led emerging markets growth equity firm. Infrastructure Networks: Fund I targets African digital 'infrastructure orchestrators' - asset-light fintech and digital platforms at Series B and C.

Investment opportunities are identified early, with a pipeline built on operating relationships within the African fintech ecosystem, underpinned by the founder trust that secures the best investments. The fund team combines financial, operational and investment depth, building businesses of genuine value with a clear path to internationally recognised exits.

Meravo Capital exists to bring emerging market opportunities to the mainstream of global institutional investment.

Role Description

This is a foundational senior hire and a genuine partnership opportunity. The investment function will be led by the Managing Partner and Investment Partner, supported by a broader platform team. The Investment Partner will work directly alongside the Managing Partner as the fund's senior investment professional, sharing responsibility for deal origination, investment execution, portfolio management and LP relations.

The Investment Partner will co-lead diligence processes, present to the Investment Committee, represent Meravo Capital at the founder and co-investor level and take relevant board observer or board seats at portfolio companies. The Investment Committee includes a combination of internal partners and independent external members with deep experience across Emerging Markets investing and infrastructure.

This is the right role for a seasoned investor who wants to move from institutional employee to genuine fund partner - and who has the Emerging Markets depth, investment judgment and personal network to help build something significant from Fund I.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and co-lead deal origination across Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa and Francophone West Africa, building and maintaining relationships with founders, co-investors and ecosystem participants
  • Conduct and oversee investment due diligence at Series B and C stage, including financial modelling, market analysis, regulatory assessment and management evaluation
  • Present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee and manage the full documentation process from term sheet through to close
  • Take active portfolio management responsibility post-investment, including board representation, KPI oversight, covenant monitoring and follow-on investment assessment
  • Contribute to LP fundraising and investor relations, supporting the Managing Partner across institutional conversations and LP reporting
  • Build and develop the operating team - Deal Origination, Portfolio Operations, Data & Systems - as the fund scales
  • Represent Meravo Capital externally at industry events, conferences and with regulators and ecosystem bodies across target markets

Qualifications - Essential

  • 10+ years of investment experience, with at least five years in growth equity, venture capital or private equity focused on Emerging Markets
  • Demonstrable investment track record at Series B stage or beyond - deal sourcing, execution and portfolio management with specific examples of value creation
  • Africa market knowledge: on-the-ground operating or investing experience strongly preferred over purely desk-based coverage
  • Strong existing relationships within the fintech and digital infrastructure ecosystem - founders, co-investors, accelerators and regulators
  • Financial modelling proficiency and the ability to lead rigorous due diligence across complex, multi-jurisdictional businesses
  • Credibility and presence in LP-facing and founder-facing settings across both institutional and emerging market environments

Qualifications - Highly Desirable

  • Prior experience working at or alongside a DFI - bringing familiarity with development finance investment processes and governance expectations from the inside
  • Existing relationships with Series B and C stage African fintech businesses that could represent near-term pipeline for the fund
  • Experience sitting on portfolio company boards or in board observer roles
  • Network within the investment community including family offices, impact investors and development finance institutions
  • Francophone West Africa exposure - language, relationships or operating experience
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fund build-out phase

Base salary: Competitive, with a contractual step-up on first close. Discussed individually based on candidate profile.

Carried interest: Meaningful participation in the fund's carried interest pool - structured with a 3-year cliff and ratable vesting over the fund life. Specific allocation discussed individually.

Co-investment rights: The right to invest personally alongside the fund-on-fund terms.

Title: Partner, Meravo Capital.

Location: Flexible, with regular travel across target markets.
