About the Role
The Llama Ventures Analyst position is a full-time (optional for part-time for candidates), on-the-ground opportunity designed for students or early-career individuals who want to gain direct exposure to venture capital, early-stage startups, and emerging technologies. You’ll work closely with our investment team across sourcing, research, diligence, and internal initiatives at a rapidly scaling VC firm.
This role is part-time, with flexibility based on candidate availability.

We are looking for a high-intensity, intellectually curious investor to join our San Francisco team. This is a sourcing-heavy role designed for someone who lives at the intersection of technical depth and market mapping. You will be the "first boots on the ground," identifying breakout founders in frontier tech before they hit the radar of the broader ecosystem.
What You’ll Do
The Hunt: Sourcing & Deal Flow
Aggressive Pipeline Generation: Proactively identify and engage with early-stage founders across AI, infrastructure, and dev tools.
Thematic Sourcing: Develop proprietary investment theses by conducting deep-dives into frontier tech sectors and emerging technical paradigms.
Network Expansion: Represent the firm at demo days, technical meetups, and within the SF/Silicon Valley ecosystem to ensure we see every high-signal deal.
Investment Rigor
Technical Diligence: Synthesize complex technical information and market modeling into high-conviction deal memos.
Financial Analysis: Support investment execution through cap table modeling and rigorous financial vetting.
Founder Partnerships: Lead initial founder screenings, evaluating team-market fit and technical defensibility.
Portfolio & Platform
Strategic Support: Act as a force multiplier for portfolio companies on special projects, ecosystem mapping, and talent sourcing.
Intelligence Systems: Build and optimize internal CRM workflows (Airtable/Notion) to track the next generation of "under-the-radar" talent.
Qualifications
Pedigree & Experience: We are seeking high-alpha candidates, ranging from elite undergraduates at top-tier universities to early-career professionals with backgrounds in MBB, Banking, PE, or technical roles at hypergrowth startups. Whether you are a "prodigy" builder or a seasoned analyst, you must possess a relentless "hunter" instinct for sourcing and the analytical rigor to earn carried interest in a high-stakes SF environment.
The "Venture Mindset": You are a self-starter who doesn't wait for a task list. You have the "hunter" instinct required to win competitive deals in a crowded SF market. It is a plus if you are already involved in the SF Venture community.
Operational Tooling: Expert-level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; power user of Notion, Airtable, and modern CRM platforms.
Commitment: Ability to commit to a part-time or full-time schedule (flexible for the right candidate).
