To support this continued growth, Ion Pacific is planning to bring on a self-starting and ambitious VP or Principal to join and strengthen the Europe investment team.
Description
This VP or Principal will have experience in venture capital, growth equity, or private equity investing with a demonstrated track record of successful investments. He or she will be capable of independently sourcing, evaluating, executing, and managing investments while representing the firm to senior stakeholders across the venture capital ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of deal execution and manage Analysts and Associates
- Lead structuring and negotiation of complex transaction terms with counterparties
- Develop investment theses and present recommendations to the investment committee
- Direct comprehensive due diligence processes, coordinating internal teams and external advisors
- Lead negotiation of legal documentation and transaction closing
Drive origination
- Source and originate proprietary primary and secondaries investment opportunities through established networks
- Leverage and expand a robust senior network of venture capital GPs, LPs, and technology company executives to generate proprietary deal flow
- Build strategic relationships that enhance the firm's market position in the US
Contribute to firm strategy and development
- Participate in shaping the firm's investment strategy and market approach
- Play an active role in investor relations, fundraising, and LP communications
- Mentor and develop junior team members, providing training on deal execution, financial modeling, and market dynamics
Fund investments expertise
- Demonstrate deep understanding of private equity and venture capital fund terms, structures, and economics
- Evaluate fund performance, manager quality, and portfolio construction
Sector expertise
- Maintain deep knowledge of the technology sector with established perspectives on emerging trends and market dynamics
The Candidate
- 5-7+ years of experience in venture capital, growth equity, private equity, or investment banking with substantial exposure to technology investing
- Proven track record of executing and/or managing technology investments, preferably including experience with secondaries, structured investments, or special situations
- Strong understanding of venture capital fund structures, LP/GP dynamics, and secondary market mechanics
- Experience leading deal teams and managing complex, multi-party transactions
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills with ability to structure creative solutions
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience mentoring junior investment professionals
- Excellent judgment and ability to make independent investment decisions
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to investment committees and senior stakeholders
- Self-starter with entrepreneurial mindset who thrives in a growing organization
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple concurrent transactions
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Preferred: Candidates with authorization to work in Switzerland who are currently based, or willing to be based, in Switzerland
