Healthworx Venture Capital Intern (Master's/Graduate Student) - MD, DC, VA (Remote)

Baltimore or Remote (United States)Internship2h ago

Healthworx, the innovation and investment arm of Carefirst, is hiring a summer intern.  This intern would be part of the Healthworx Ventures team, which mades Series A and Series B venture capital investments into healthcare companies.  The Ventures team also manages a portfolio of venture captial investments, both direct companies and other funds in the healthcare space.  Finally, the Ventures team is a classic experience in corporate venture capital and innovation: balancing the financial returns of a fund while also prioritizing strategic value in healthcare.

As an intern on this team, you would have exposure to all elements of the Venture Capital process. You would join, and potentially take your own, sourcing calls with healthcare start-ups.  You would network with other early stage investors and accelerators.  Depending on active deals, you may support the diligence process.  You would be involved in projects around portfolio support. You would have direct insight into the mechanisms of running a corporate venture capital fund.  And you would work closely with our stakeholders at CareFirst and other payers to develop informed opinions about healthcare innovations.

We are looking for a hungry and talented intern to join us for the summer to innovate in healthcare. We are looking for MBA or MBA-equivalent students who have at least a year of school under their belt. Ideally, you come from a finance-related role, and have spent more hours that youd like to admit structuring spreadsheets and deals.  But youre also hungry for more: youve worked or interned for a start-up, have a side hustle, have gotten involved in start-up or VC work in school, or have another passion project.  Wed also love folks with demonstrated interest and experience in healthcare.
