Investment Analyst

About the Company

Future Planet Capital is a global venture firm backing breakthrough companies that emerge from the world's leading universities and research ecosystems to solve humanity's greatest challenges. Investing from Pre-Seed to Series C, we back companies solving the issues of our time across climate change, health, education, security and sustainable growth.

The Investment Analyst role sits within our Global team. We're a scrappy team that helped grow Future Planet Capital from a $20m experiment fund into the $500m platform it is today, and we're not finished. We continue in our mission to scale venture and change how it is done: more systematic, more tech-enabled, more straight talking. The role works across The British Co-Investment Fund (BCF), a UK-focused fund backing high-potential founders across the country's innovation clusters.

The Role

We're hiring an Investment Analyst to be the team's eyes, ears, and first point of contact across the UK startup landscape. You'll be sourcing deals, building relationships, and helping us turn early conversations into conviction. You would:

  • Be a major part of the fund's presence across the UK startup ecosystem — events, accelerators, university spinouts, and innovation clusters.
  • Help build on and improve our venture scout network across UK universities — recruiting scouts, equipping them, and turning their signal into deal flow.
  • Identify and evaluate promising startups across sectors, focusing on companies that can produce billion-pound outcomes.
  • Manage and grow our VC ecosystem list — tracking relationships across co-investors, angels, scouts, and accelerators in partnership with the team.
  • Develop reporting and pipeline views within our CRM that give the investment team clear visibility into deal flow and portfolio activity.
  • Produce content that helps attract great founders — posts, podcasts, and other formats that show what FPC stands for.
  • Write first-draft investment memos for BCF opportunities, synthesising market research, founder interviews, and competitive analysis.
  • Support IC preparation, due diligence, and deal documentation across BCF investments.
  • Develop familiarity with our portfolio and assist with reporting, onboarding, and data collection over time.
  • Comfortable with regular evening work. Founder dinners, ecosystem events, and university gatherings happen after hours, and you see that as a feature not a bug.

Requirements — Skills & Background

  • We're open on background. Strong fits include former founders or co-founders, early employees at high-growth startups, former venture scouts, people who've thrown great founder events or run university entrepreneurship societies. What matters is that you've been close to the building of companies, not just the analysis of them.
  • Strong written skills using the template we have produced. We don't need extended essays, but we need clear, well-structured arguments quickly.

What We're Looking For

  • Outstanding communication skills. You can hold your own with founders, co-investors, and senior IC members.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with the judgment to prioritise ruthlessly when pipeline and travel pull in different directions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action over waiting for perfect information.
  • A grafter who loves working hard, being out and about, and building networks from scratch. Available to travel regularly across the UK.
  • Technical curiosity. We want you to love AI tools like Claude, Claude Code, Notion AI, or similar.
  • Low ego, high empathy, and a genuine belief that the team wins or loses together.
  • Intellectually curious about technology and startups.
  • Passionate about impact-driven investing.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £45–60k commensurate with experience, alongside a discretionary bonus linked to individual and fund performance and in time, participation in the carried interest scheme.

  • 10% pension contribution
  • Private healthcare insurance
  • 25 days' annual leave plus public holidays
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • Access to training and professional development opportunities

This is a year-2 fixed-term role, reviewed against fund growth and deployment at the 12- and 24-month mark.

Closing date for applications is 5th June 2026.
