Emirates NBD Ventures
Emirates NBD Ventures backs early- to growth-stage digital banking and fintech companies relevant to the innovation strategy of its parent banking group, Emirates NBD.
Emirates NBD Ventures is the venture investment arm of Emirates NBD, a banking group headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with operations across 13 countries in the MENAT region and beyond - including Egypt, India, Türkiye, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Bahrain, and representative offices in China and Indonesia. The unit invests in early- to growth-stage companies whose products are relevant to the group's innovation strategy, with an emphasis on digital banking, financial technology, and online and mobile banking platforms. Its mandate is corporate rather than purely financial: portfolio companies are assessed in part on their relevance to a banking franchise that serves over 20 million customers and reports total assets of AED 836 billion (approximately USD 228 billion) as of September 2023.
The strategic context for that mandate is a group already operating at considerable digital scale. Some 97% of all financial transactions and requests are conducted outside branches, supported by a network of 853 branches and 4,213 ATMs and smart deposit machines. The group's retail, corporate and institutional, Islamic, investment, and private banking businesses sit alongside asset management, global markets and treasury, and brokerage operations - a breadth that gives ventures investors a defined distribution channel across consumer and institutional segments. Liv, the group's lifestyle digital bank, is described as the fastest-growing digital bank in the region and has close to half a million users.
Geographically, the group's footprint spans the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, India, Türkiye, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Bahrain, and Russia, with representative offices in China and Indonesia. Emirates NBD has also positioned itself around sustainable development, serving as Principal Banking Partner of COP28 and supporting the UAE's Year of Sustainability.
