About

We want to build together an innovative, sustainable and inclusive economy through the leverage of private investment conveyed with medium to long term payback prospects.

What we believe in

  • Wealth can generate more wealth, if invested in responsible entrepreneurs: The accountability of the business that acts in the best interests of all the stakeholders who are drawn to it, develops value over the medium and long terms, and turns out to be a superior investment.
  • Sustainable innovation: We give access to innovative investments that will shape our future economy: we give priority to those who have already embarked on a path of medium-long term economic, social and environmental sustainability, also to reduce risk and acquire greater prospective value
  • Simplicity, Clarity and Transparency: We utilize technology to streamline procedures and provide a seamless, delightful user experience. Even the most complicated documents are made simple to read and comprehend in order to promote wise and informed investment. Through the online platform and special meetings set up by our Investment Managers, all the pertinent information concerning the potential investment is made available.
  • Empowerment and Training: Offering everyone the resources they need to learn about the industry and its quirks will make venture capital investments more accessible. As a result, education is a key pillar for fostering growth in people as well as the ecosystem as a whole.

We are a Benefit Company

Since its inception, Doorway has decided to be a Benefit Company, that is, a company that places the goals of profit alongside those of value creation and common benefit. How? By conveying venture capital in the service of the birth and development of innovative and sustainable enterprises that can bring positive effects to society.

Every day Doorway strives to create real impact by contributing to some of the UN Sustainable Development Goals through its business activities.

SDG 4: Quality education - Through the financial education activities carried out during the year and the training initiatives for investors and founders.

SDG 5: Gender equality - Doorway promotes the culture of innovation and wants to support successful founders, especially of the female gender, who usually find it more difficult to raise capital.

SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth - Through fundraising, Doorway supports those companies that want to grow and expand in Italy and abroad, creating wealth and jobs, especially for young people. Often the investment rounds are used precisely to structure teams and hire new resources.

SDG 9: Innovation - Doorway sees the innovation ecosystem as a key driver of economic growth and wants to help it develop in Italy and Europe.

Visible Hands

Visible Hands is a venture capital firm on a mission to highlight and invest in the limitless potential of overlooked founders. We envision a world where talent and execution - not race or gender - are the key predictors for success. Our Manifesto Our world is changing. Our communities are changing - they are becoming stronger and more vibrant in their diversity, and face fresh possibilities and challenges as a new generation looks increasingly different from the last. We believe that as new opportunities arise, anyone should have the chance to seize them. The best solutions come from those closest to the problem - as our problems evolve, so should the problem-solvers. We believe that investing in women, people of color, and other underrepresented groups is key to creating a more prosperous and equitable future for everyone. We celebrate the bold, the curious, and the irrational. We applaud those with big dreams, and who choose the harder, riskier path in relentless pursuit of pushing forward what is possible. We also acknowledge that being a risk-taker often comes from a position of privilege - opportunity and wealth gaps persist along racial and gender lines, and access to financial and social capital too often determines which ideas are nurtured to grow. We believe that we must first acknowledge that the playing field was built to be unequal in order to change it. We know that we must change it. High-growth entrepreneurship should not be reserved for the privileged few. We need to shine a light inwards on our collective blindspots, and cast out a wider and more inclusive net to find and support existing talent. Instead of relying on unseen market forces, we’re taking matters into our own hands. No one should have to look a certain way to be deemed deserving; great entrepreneurs are all around us but we must choose to see them. By sharing our privileges with those not born into it and manufacturing fairness where it doesn’t yet exist, we can fundamentally change access to wealth and opportunity in this generation. This is our open call for anyone who feels stuck on the outside looking in: We see you. We value you. We need you. Your perspective is unique, your lived experience is invaluable, and your potential is limitless. Never doubt that your voice matters and that you deserve to be heard, even if it can feel like it doesn’t. We believe that good ideas, regardless of who or where they come from, should rise to the top, and we will fight alongside you to get them there.

Acasia

We’re here to back individuals who dare to be different and in innovation that pushes the boundaries of possibilities. Our story from seed to treeThe seed: In 2011, Aly El Shalakany and Hossam Allam founded the Cairo Angels, which was Egypt and Africa’s first angel investment network. The idea was simple - to bring together a group of mission driven investors to invest and support founders to build technology businesses right here in our region in order to have a positive impact on our societies The sprout: It was tough going at first and there were plenty of naysayers. There were too few of us trying to do too much. The seedling: Once you have a few wins under your belt, belief can be quite infectious. As the number of our investments grew, so did the number of founders building exciting new startups, which brought more and more investors to our community. Before we knew it, the perception of startups and investing in startups was changing all around us and a virtuous cycle began to take hold. The sapling: As we started making returns for our investors, we started to think to ourselves - what more can we be doing? How can we have more impact? Programs. Check. Partnerships. Check. Events. Check. Launch of our first fund. Check. The tree: Today, we look back at the last decade and think to ourselves - that was fun, where did the time go? But ten years is nothing in the life of a tree; we’re just getting started. We have places to go and people to see. We are the Acasia tree. Our PhilosophyFirst believers: We love to be the first folks outside of friends and family (and fools!) to back exceptional founders to build enduring companies. Founder-focused: The founders are at the heart of everything we do. We want to be partners for life in this exciting journey, through thick and thin, come what may. We’re in it for the long haul. Collaboration: It takes a village to raise a child. We’re happy to pay it forward, because we’re all in this together. That’s what ecosystem building is all about. Impact-driven: We believe that, given the possibility, we have the talent to build enduring technology firms right here in our part of the world. For Us By Us: We believe that, given the possibility, we have the talent to build enduring technology firms right here in our part of the world. Enabling People We empower people with big ideas to go the distance, and aspire to understand the humans behind the ideas. Sustaining Growth We commit to long-term, hands-on support in all aspects of a startup to facilitate personal and business development. Fueling Innovation We connect visionaries of the region by converting interest into investment.
