Criteria Capital Risc

Criteria Capital Risc is CriteriaCaixa’s venture capital investment arm, focused on helping science- and technology-based startups with high growth potential. Founded in 2002 within ‘la Caixa’, the venture capital manager became a wholly owned subsidiary of CriteriaCaixa in 2013 and adopted the Criteria Capital Risc brand in 2026. Its investment activity is organized through two funds: Criteria Bio Ventures, specializing in biotechnology and health, and Criteria Venture Tech, specializing in technology.

The company invests in early-stage businesses and supports portfolio companies through strategic guidance, expertise, financial resources and access to venture capital and private equity networks. It participates in portfolio company boards and works with founders on value creation. Its areas of investment include innovative therapies and health technologies, as well as deep technology and fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software and data infrastructure. The official announcement describes it as having been one of the leading venture capital investors in the Iberian Peninsula for more than 20 years.
