About the Role
We're looking for an Investment Associate to join our Berlin-based investment team. This is a hands-on role at the heart of what we do - finding exceptional founders early and helping them build category-defining companies. You'll be involved across the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and due diligence through to portfolio support.
This is the right role for someone who is intellectually curious, loves meeting founders, and wants to develop into a world-class early-stage investor.
What You'll Do
Deal Sourcing & Network Building Proactively source new investment opportunities through data-driven methods and your own network. Build and maintain strong relationships within the European founder and investor ecosystem, with a particular focus on the DACH region.
Research & Thesis Development Identify emerging sectors and trends, becoming a subject matter expert in your chosen areas. Develop informed perspectives on where the next generation of breakout companies will emerge.
Due Diligence & Investment Analysis Support the team through the full due diligence process - analysing data, conducting market research, running reference and diligence calls, and writing investment memos that inform our investment decisions.
Portfolio Support Partner with our portfolio companies on their growth journey. This includes attending board meetings, advising on strategic and operational challenges, and supporting founders through subsequent funding rounds.
Firm Building Contribute to Cherry's broader platform and culture. Test your own initiatives, share learnings with the team, and play an active role in growing a world-class early-stage venture capital fund.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: Around 1-2 years in venture capital, or approximately 2-4 years in a relevant role at a tech-driven startup or scale-up (product, sales/growth, engineering, or a founder/co-founder capacity). Candidates from top management consulting or backgrounds with some VC exposure are also welcome.
- Network: You are well-connected, or actively building connections - within the European tech and startup ecosystem, ideally in the DACH region.
- Analytical rigour: You're comfortable digging into data, financial models, and market dynamics to form a clear point of view.
- Intellectual curiosity: You have a genuine passion for technology, startups, and understanding how great companies are built.
- Communication: You can articulate complex ideas clearly - both in writing (memos, research) and in conversation with founders and partners.
- Drive: You're hands-on, proactive, and energised by the pace and ambiguity of early-stage investing.
