Champion Hill Ventures
Champion Hill Ventures invests in pre-seed and seed companies across defense, hard technology and emerging computing markets.
Champion Hill Ventures began in 2014, when founder Josh Manchester set out to back founders tackling significant problems that conventional markets and capital often overlook. After six years at TrueBridge Capital Partners, where he helped manage approximately $2 billion, and six years as an officer in the US Marine Corps, Manchester established a firm focused on identifying non-consensus ideas, emerging behaviors and innovation underserved by capital markets.
The firm invests in three broad themes: defense and hard technology; new computing regimes and digital sovereignty; and 'curveballs' that challenge prevailing narratives and do not fit neatly into a category. Champion Hill says it typically invests $300,000 to $500,000 to lead pre-seed rounds and participate in seed rounds. Its publicly listed portfolio includes companies such as SpaceX, Anduril, Umbra, True Anomaly and Flexport. The firm is based in the United States and describes its mission as solving large problems hiding in plain sight.
