The Opportunity
Calculus VC is offering a unique, project-based internship for a highly motivated and intellectually curious individual to conduct dedicated research directly alongside our founder, Swati Chaturvedi.
This is an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the world of venture capital, sharpen your analytical skills, and contribute meaningfully to a strategic research project that will directly influence the firm's future focus areas. This is an unpaid internship and must be undertaken for academic credit or self-enrichment.
Role Description
The Research Intern will be responsible for executing a specific, self-contained research project focused on a key area of interest for Calculus VC.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Research: Conduct deep, rigorous, and systematic research into a designated emerging technology sectors and market trends (e.g., AI in specific verticals, future of work, climate tech market dynamics).
Data Collection & Analysis: Identify, collect, and synthesize relevant primary and secondary data, including market reports, academic papers, competitive landscapes, and financial data.
Thesis Development: Formulate clear, evidence-based conclusions and actionable insights based on the research findings.
Direct Collaboration: Work closely with and report directly to Swati Chaturvedi, providing regular updates, presenting findings, and adapting the research scope as needed.
Deliverables: Produce high-quality, professional research reports, presentations, and/or internal memos detailing the project's methodology, findings, and strategic recommendations.
QualificationsRequired
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, or a technical discipline) or currently pursuing a degree in these areas.
Demonstrated passion for technology, startups, and the venture capital ecosystem.
Exceptional research, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Must be capable of structuring ambiguous problems and driving a project to a conclusion.
Proficiency in using google spreadsheets and google slides
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
High level of proactivity, organization, and a strong sense of ownership over the project.
Preferred
Prior experience conducting independent research.
Familiarity with financial modeling, market sizing, or competitive analysis.
Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, specific statistical software).
