The Opportunity: Why This Role is Different

We are looking for our first-ever Analyst.

This is a hands on, front row seat not just to venture capital and blockchain expanding role in how businesses work and new categories get formed, but also to be an active participant in how artificial intelligence is changing the venture industry and its portfolio companies in deep and exciting ways.

The analyst role at Blockchange is not layers down in the hierarchy. You will be working directly with general partners and be part of day-to-day process and decision making. You will get a mix of directed activities as well as freedom to take your own initiative.

What You Will Do

The Analyst role is intended to be both broad and dynamic, with periods of focused efforts around a core workstream mixed in with periods of more varied and ongoing activities. These include:

• Deal Sourcing: Work directly with our partners to build out and expand sources of new investment opportunities, including but not limited to AI-enabled outbound tooling and screens, ongoing relationships with accelerators and incubators, and opportunity assessment and filtering.
• Research and analysis: Build and use competitive analysis, market maps, and industry insights to identify deal sources and areas of opportunity for new investments. Help generate and test hypotheses around where Blockchange should direct its resources to continue to source and win the highest quality early stage investments.
• Systems ownership: Own and leverage Blockchange’s CRM system and ensure it is a decision making tool and not simply a system of record. Extract insights around source productivity, relationship cadence, and opportunities to scale interactions up/down using data-driven insights.
• Portfolio Support: Monitor and maintain relationships across our broad portfolio of existing investments to help identify and act on opportunities for follow-on investment.

Blockchange is not bounded by titles: you will find a willingness to let you grow your responsibilities at the pace you are able to demonstrably do so. While you will be working under the direction of and with the support of General Partners in the firm, you will have plenty of room to suggest your own paths and recommend courses of action that best achieve end goals.

Who You Are

We are looking for a hungry, intellectually curious, and creative early-career professional (recent graduates are welcome and encouraged to apply).

• The Background:  Ideally you have had some prior exposure to venture capital – and even better to early stage venture.
• You are comfortable using artificial intelligence to help get work done efficiently and effectively.
• You are multi-threaded: parallel work streams with disparate deadlines are energizing and not paralyzing.
• You are a self starter but also know when to ask for help and when to push back. You surface alternatives as new information becomes exposed. You know bad news doesn’t age well. You are comfortable hitting deadlines but also communicate clearly when circumstances need to change.
• The Personality: You have the extreme initiative required to define a completely new role from scratch. You possess the creativity to see solutions we aren't even thinking of. You have the communication skills necessary to evangelize those solutions to the entire team. Because this role is built on experimentation, you are completely comfortable with the inevitable roadblocks, treating every dead end you hit as a vital stepping stone to success rather than a failure
