The Analyst Position:

We are looking for an Investment Analyst to play a central role across investment analysis, portfolio monitoring, and fund-level financial operations. This is a high-impact position offering direct exposure to deal execution, portfolio company performance, and interactions with founders, co-investors, and institutional LPs. The role is ideal for someone who combines strong financial rigor, sound judgment, and intellectual curiosity, and who wants to grow inside a venture capital platform.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Investment & Deal Support:

  • Build and review financial models for new investments (operating models, scenarios, valuation, dilution analysis).

  • Support due diligence across financial, commercial, technology, HR and operational dimensions.

  • Prepare industry and market analyses, including comparable company valuation multiples, recent transactions, exit benchmarks, and sector dynamics, to support investment theses and pricing decisions.

  • Prepare investment committee materials, memos, and supporting analyses.

  • Assist with transaction execution (term sheets, closings, capital deployment tracking).

2.Portfolio Monitoring & Value Creation:

  • Track portfolio company performance (KPIs, burn rate, runway, budget vs. actuals).

  • Analyze quarterly and annual financials from portfolio companies.

  • Support portfolio reviews, follow-on decisions, and exit scenario analysis.

  • Work with founders on financial reporting, planning, and investor materials as needed.

3.Fund Operations & Reporting:

  • Support fund-level financial reporting, capital calls, distributions, and NAV analysis.

  • Coordinate with external fund administrators, auditors, and advisors.

  • Assist in LP reporting (quarterly reports, annual financial statements, performance metrics).

  • Contribute to internal processes, controls, and data quality as the platform scales.

Profile & Qualifications:

Required:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital or corporate finance

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.

  • Solid understanding of financial statements, cash flow dynamics, and business valuation.

  • Demonstrated interest in technology-driven businesses, particularly in areas such as AI, enterprise software, and data-driven platforms, with curiosity for how technology translates into real-world impact and scalable business models.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and a willingness to take ownership, propose solutions, and think beyond defined processes.

  • Experience with, or strong interest in adopting, modern AI-enabled tools to enhance financial analysis, portfolio monitoring and research

  • Highly motivated and passionate;

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French

  • Alignment with Amiral’s values.

Nice to Have:

  • CFA or CPA, or progress toward one of these designations, or technical graduate from a top-tier university.

  • Prior exposure to venture capital, technology companies, or high-growth environments.

  • Experience working with founders or early-stage management teams.

What We Offer:

  • Direct exposure to senior decision-making and deal execution.

  • Close collaboration with founders, operators, and institutional investors.

  • A steep learning curve across investing, portfolio management, and fund operations.

  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience, including performance incentives.

  • A collegial, intellectually rigorous, and mission-driven team culture.

  • Montreal-based role with flexibility.

Why Join Amiral:

This is a rare opportunity to join a newly established fund at an early stage, help shape internal processes, and grow into a broader investment role over time. You will be trusted with real responsibility, meaningful autonomy, and visibility across the full venture lifecycle.
