With offices in Boston, New York, Chicago, Menlo Park, and Manchester, NH, we’re rapidly growing and committed to fueling entrepreneurial success while developing the next generation of VC professionals.</div><h3>About the Role</h3> As a Venture Associate, you’ll be an instrumental part of the investment team—helping to identify promising startups, conducting in-depth analysis, and collaborating with portfolio companies. Reporting to the Managing Partner and supporting Principal-level colleagues and the Investment Team, you’ll play a critical role in evaluating investment potential, driving due diligence, and supporting deal execution and portfolio monitoring. <h3>What You'll Do</h3> Deal Sourcing & Screening <ul> <li>Conduct proactive research to identify early-stage companies across sectors and geographies.</li> <li>Attend founder-led events, demo days, and conferences to build network and source potential investments.</li> </ul> Market & Industry Research <ul> <li>Perform thorough competitive and market analysis across sectors such as AI, healthcare, fintech, sustainability, etc.</li> <li>Identify market trends, key players, pain points, and growth potential.</li> </ul> Company Evaluation & Due Diligence <ul> <li>Build financial models, analyze unit economics, revenue forecasts, and cost structures.</li> <li>Evaluate team background, product-market fit, traction, business model, and fundraising needs.</li> <li>Coordinate and conduct due diligence—including customer and industry expert calls, reference checks, and legal/document review.</li> </ul> Investment Memo & Presentation <ul> <li>Draft clear, persuasive investment memos, presentations, and other materials for investment committee review.</li> </ul> Transaction Support & Execution <ul> <li>Assist with term sheet evaluation, capitalization table management, and final funding execution.</li> </ul> Portfolio Monitoring & Value Add <ul> <li>Support portfolio company founders with introductions, strategic insights, and operational best practices.</li> <li>Monitor KPIs, business milestones, and industry benchmarks to track portfolio company performance.</li> </ul> Internal Collaboration & Firm Development <ul> <li>Partner cross-functionally with Investor Relations, Marketing, and Operations teams.</li> <li>Contribute to internal initiatives such as deal flow strategy, knowledge sharing, and process enhancements.</li> </ul> Firm Thought Leadership <ul> <li>Publish expert insights or blog posts on trends and industry developments.</li> <li>Represent Alumni Ventures at conferences, panels, and demo showcases.</li> </ul> <h3>Who You Are</h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, STEM, or a relevant field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.</li> <li>0-2 years of experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm, investment bank, growth fund, startup, or related setting.</li> <li>Direct exposure to early-stage investing or startup operations is a plus.</li> <li>Strong financial modeling skills, with ability to assess market sizing, unit economics, revenue models, and cap table dynamics.</li> <li>Well-versed in software tools such as Excel, Pitchbook, Crunchbase, Pitchbook, Tableau, etc.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication. Capable of synthesizing complex research into compelling narratives.Comfortable engaging with founders, investors, and advisors.</li> <li>Resourceful self-starter who takes initiative and approaches challenges with an entrepreneurial mindset.</li> <li>Exceptionally organized with a sharp eye for detail and follow-through.</li> <li>Thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments, adapting quickly to shifting priorities.</li> <li>Brings intellectual curiosity, strong critical thinking, and a proactive, collaborative approach to building partnerships.</li> <li>Possesses experience or strong interest in AI tools, technologies, and industry trends, and can apply this knowledge to market research, deal evaluation, and portfolio support.</li> </ul> Compensation includes a base salary of $100,000 plus equity, carry potential, and corporate bonus.  <div class="content-conclusion">Our benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k match, HSA, FSA, Life Insurance, Pet Insurance, Flexible PTO, and Parental Leave as well as career development.
