Alt Ventures

Alt Ventures is an Auckland-based venture capital firm founded in 2019 by Chris Jagger, who has more than 15 years of experience in company building, private investment and fund management. The firm provides early-stage and seed-stage capital to technology startups and creative companies in New Zealand, with a focus on gaming, creative technology and software and games development. It describes its remit as "alternative capital for atypical ventures".

In 2021 the firm established a dedicated New Zealand gaming venture fund, described on its website as the country's first such fund. The vehicle is intended to support high-potential Kiwi game studios and technology businesses, a segment of the domestic early-stage market that has historically drawn limited specialist venture capital relative to software more broadly.

Alongside capital, Alt Ventures provides operational support to founders, drawing on a network of industry advisors to help portfolio companies develop their businesses.
