Job Description
Elkstone is Ireland’s leading early-stage venture investor. We invest in founders with global ambition. Our investment approach is sector-agnostic, seeking to invest in technology enabled, capital light, internationally scalable businesses. Our portfolio of 60 Irish and international companies includes unicorns Flipdish, LetsGetChecked and Thirty Madison, and high-growth businesses such as Manna Drone Delivery, ProtexAI, HealthBeacon, AudioMob & Soapbox Labs.
In 2022 we announced our new €100m early-stage venture fund and are now looking to hire more talented people to join our Ventures team. We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Venture Analyst to support our Venture team.
Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
This role will be part of our investment team that invest in 10-15 early-stage businesses per year, and managing a portfolio of 60 existing investments. In addition to career development opportunities, your role will be dynamic in a fast-paced environment with high levels of responsibility from day one. No two days are the same!
- Financial modelling & analysis across our venture fund and portfolio companies
- Conduct thorough research on emerging technologies, industry trends, and market dynamics relating to potential investment opportunities
- Support the investment team in conducting due diligence on target companies, including financial analysis, competitive environment and commercial assessment
- Assist in the evaluation and screening of investment opportunities, including reviewing pitch decks, financial models, and business plans
- Collaborate with the investment team in conducting meetings and interviews with entrepreneurs and founder/management teams
- Support the investment team in preparing investment proposals, presentations and investment committee materials
- Interface with portfolio company CEOs and CFOs to understand specific company needs related to our engagements and drive data collection/due diligence process.
- Complete ad-hoc financial analysis and financial modelling to assist & support our Ventures Team.
- Assist and support our Ventures team as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics or 2+ years equivalent work experience.
- Intricate knowledge of Excel and well versed with financial statements.
- Advanced skills in excel modelling.
- A keen interest in technology.
- Keen attention to detail and demonstrated ability to produce error-free deliverables with minimal oversight.
- Proven planning and organisational skills is a must, deadline-driven with the ability to navigate ambiguity and manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Personal entrepreneurial experiences are desirable but not essential.
- Motivated, self-starter, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- It is an essential requirement of the role that the successful candidate is fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- It is an essential requirement of the role that the candidate is comfortable in taking directions, follow up, and able to prioritise and multitask in a changing environment.
