Market One Capital (known as “MOC”) founded in 2017 is a classic venture capital firm that backs bold European entrepreneurs working on novel hypotheses about the future and funds them with enough seed capital to validate or answer the most important questions. However, our history of being engaged as venture capitalists reaches the year 2012, when we set up our first micro VC funds.
MOC has EUR 140m in assets under management across two funds. The fund invests at the early stages of company development, meaning pre-seed, seed, and late seed. Our areas of specialty are marketplaces, market networks, online infrastructure, online communities, and protocols.
We want you to understand best when, where and in what we invest.
It doesn't matter if we are talking about B2B, B2C or P2P marketplaces. Marketplace is a business model we understand best both as founders and investors, having experience in founding 5 of them and investing in more than 40.
With at least several months of marketplace traction, which we consider a seed stage, we can talk about initial signs of product/market fit, early unit economics or network effects.
We are a pan-European fund and we invest in best online marketplaces no matter where in Europe they are based.
Current fund which started late 2017 has capitalization of EUR 45 million.
Network effects platform
These legendary externalities are often invisible at first sight but are critical to long-term success of many companies. They might be the tipping point when competing with other players on the market. Network effects can be observed in many business models such as: online marketplace, SaaS and even hardware.
Our initial ticket is between EUR 200k - 1.5m and we can invest up to several million EUR in total per one project. We feel comfortably both as a lead investor and as a part of the bigger syndicate.
We take a long view of relationships, because we are in the relationship business
We believe in the future and bet the firm that way
We nurture open-mindedness and independent perspectives
We actively encourage team members to learn new skills, and then give opportunities to work in those new areas
