We launch more than 100+ startups each year through our industry-leading startup development programs: HAX (hard tech) and IndieBio (human and planetary health), based in San Francisco, New York City, Newark, and Shenzhen. Our fundamental mission is to build companies delivering radical innovations in “human and planetary health," categories where SOSV is widely recognized as a leader.

You will be part of the IndieBio New York team. IndieBio is the world's largest life sciences start-up development program devoted to funding and building startups that are working to solve humanity’s most pressing problems. Twice a year, IndieBio selects 10 to 15 early-stage companies across different sectors in the life sciences to partake in an intensive 4-month program in New York City. You will be working amongst life sciences companies that will transform the future of human and planetary health and understand how IndieBio supports founders to accelerate the next wave of innovation.

Front Desk Management:

  • Cover the front desk during the building’s set business hours and be an on-site point of contact for our internal SOSV employees, IndieBio founders, and our guests as they enter IndieBio NY’s brand-new office in Manhattan.
  • Greet members and guests with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
  • Keep the front desk clean and organized, and ensure all necessary office materials are kept in stock.
  • Responsible for answering incoming calls and meeting/conference room calendars.
  • Notify team members of any food deliveries and couriers.
  • Answer any questions from team members, founders, and guests related to the building including way-finding, policies and procedures, community etiquette, etc.
  • Know and explain office policies and procedures and communicate, inform, and update members on building issues.
  • Write and send broadcasts relating to office space updates.


  • Oversee and facilitate all aspects of internal and external meeting planning from site selection, vendor negotiation, event registration, marketing, onsite staffing, and post-event reporting.
  • Create and send event marketing communications via email, web, and print.
  • Create and manage budgets and collection of registration.
  • Oversee meeting preparation, supplies ordering, and packing/shipping of event materials
  • Staff events and manage onsite event registration.
  • Work alongside IndieBio NY’s Communications team and the SOSV Community Manager to evaluate events based on attendance, satisfaction, and impact.

Building Operations And Management:

  • Receive, process, sort, and organize all mail/courier parcels.
  • Keep the mailroom & printing station organized and stocked
  • Investigate, escalate, and resolve 'lost' packages.
  • Review the location and how to use each piece of Emergency Equipment.
  • Provide support for an automated coffee machine for guests and members.


  • 1-2+ years experience working in a community and/or relationship-building-focused role
  • 1-2+ years experience in event planning and production (bonus if you’ve worked at a VC or an accelerator and have an understanding of how startup and investor communities typically operate)
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service and/or sales experience is a plus.
  • College graduate with a four-year degree preferred, but not required.
