Investment Analyst — Telegraph Ventures

About the Role

Telegraph Ventures is looking for an Investment Analyst who sits at the intersection of people and numbers.

We're looking for a rare combination.

Part community builder. You love meeting founders, building relationships, and being in the middle of a fast-moving ecosystem. You'll help us find exceptional companies early — often before they're on everyone's radar — by building genuine relationships with founders, accelerators, incubators, and co-investors across Québec and Canada.

Part financial wiz. You love getting under the hood of a business. You can dig into financials, stress-test a model, dissect a market, and turn a messy data room into a clear point of view. You'll work across due diligence, investment analysis, portfolio performance, and the financial reporting and operations of the fund itself.

Telegraph is still a young fund. We're building the firm, the network, and the way we work in real time. We're looking for someone who wants to help build it with us — and grow into a broader investing career along the way.

What You'll Do

Build Our Network & Find Great Companies

Great venture investments rarely start with a spreadsheet. They start with people.

You'll help expand Telegraph's reach across the startup ecosystem and build the relationships that become tomorrow's investment pipeline.

  • Find promising companies through founder networks, accelerators, incubators, universities, and the broader startup ecosystem — rather than waiting for deals to arrive.
  • Build genuine, long-term relationships with founders, operators, accelerators, and co-investors.
  • Attend demo days, conferences, and ecosystem events as a visible representative of Telegraph.
  • Help build and continuously improve our sourcing engine, pipeline intelligence, and CRM.
  • Use AI, data, and new tools creatively to identify promising companies and founders earlier.
  • Develop a strong point of view on the people, companies, and emerging themes shaping the Canadian technology ecosystem.

Dig Into Companies & Understand the Numbers

Finding a great company is only the beginning. The next question is whether we should invest.

You'll help us get to the answer.

  • Build and stress-test financial models for prospective investments, including operating projections, scenario analysis, valuation work, and dilution modeling.
  • Dig into company financials, unit economics, cash flow, burn, runway, and the assumptions underpinning a founder's plan.
  • Contribute to due diligence across commercial traction, market, technology, team, and operations.
  • Research markets and comparable companies — valuation benchmarks, precedent transactions, exit comps, and sector trends — to sharpen our investment theses and pricing.
  • Turn complex information into clear, thoughtful investment analysis and IC memos.
  • Help move investments from conviction to close, supporting term sheets, diligence processes, closing logistics, and capital deployment.

Follow the Companies After We Invest

Our work doesn't stop when the money goes out the door.

  • Track portfolio company performance across KPIs, growth, cash burn, runway, and budget-to-actual.
  • Analyze quarterly and annual financial reporting from our portfolio.
  • Help identify emerging risks and opportunities before they become obvious.
  • Contribute to portfolio reviews, follow-on investment decisions, and exit modeling.
  • Work directly with founders on financial reporting, planning, and investor materials when useful.

Help Build the Fund Behind the Investments

You'll also get exposure to how a venture fund itself actually works — something few junior investing roles offer.

  • Help maintain a clear, accurate view of the fund's performance, portfolio, and capital deployment.
  • Work alongside our fund administrator, auditors, and outside advisors on capital calls, distributions, NAV, and financial reporting.
  • Contribute to LP-facing materials, including quarterly updates, annual reporting, and performance analysis.
  • Help build the processes, controls, and data practices Telegraph needs as the firm scales.
  • Find ways to use AI and automation to make how we monitor, analyze, and report information dramatically better.

Who We're Looking For

You probably have 1–3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or corporate finance and have built a strong analytical foundation.

You Have

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • A solid understanding of financial statements, cash flow, and business valuation.
  • Genuine curiosity about technology — particularly AI, enterprise software, and data — and how technology turns into a scalable business.
  • The ability to build relationships naturally and maintain them over time.
  • Builder DNA: comfort with ambiguity, a bias toward action, and a desire to create things rather than only operate within existing systems.
  • Comfort with — or genuine excitement about — using AI tools to accelerate analysis, monitoring, and research.
  • High standards and sharp attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage several priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; bilingualism (English and French) is a bonus.
  • Low ego, high agency, and real ambition.

Nice to Have

  • CFA, CPA, or progress toward either.
  • A strong quantitative or technical background.
  • Experience in venture capital, technology, or another high-growth environment.
  • Direct experience working with founders or early-stage leadership teams.

Why Telegraph Ventures

Telegraph Ventures is a Montreal-based early-stage venture capital firm backing ambitious founders building the next generation of B2B AI-native software.

We're building the kind of fund we wanted to work with as founders: high-conviction, commercially minded, and close to the companies we back.

Joining Telegraph now means joining early enough to actually shape the firm — its network, its processes, and its way of working — while growing your own role alongside it.
