Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Investment Associate to join SpaceTech Capital's investment team. You will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and supporting portfolio companies across our investment portfolio. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on transformational technologies at the frontier of the space economy, operating at the intersection of commercial innovation and government contracting.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Due Diligence & Analysis
• Conduct comprehensive technical, financial, and market diligence on potential investments in frontier and space technology sectors • Model company financials, market sizing, and valuation methodologies • Assess competitive positioning, technology differentiation, and regulatory landscape • Prepare investment memoranda and recommendations for investment committee
• Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, industry experts, and ecosystem partners in space and frontier tech • Actively source investment opportunities through networks, conferences, and direct outreach • Qualify opportunities against fund thesis and investment criteria Portfolio Support
• Provide ongoing support to portfolio companies on business development, strategic planning, and operational metrics • Facilitate introductions and leverage networks to support company growth • Monitor portfolio performance and track against investment milestones
Fund Operations & Development
• Support LP engagement, fund communication, and fundraising initiatives • Contribute to investment thesis development and market research • Assist with fund governance and investor relations
Required Qualifications
• 7–10 years of professional experience in venture capital, private equity, or growth equity investment • Demonstrated expertise in frontier technology sectors (deep tech, space technology, advanced manufacturing, energy, propulsion, communications, etc.) • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; comfort evaluating complex, capital-intensive technology businesses • Proven ability to work with technical founders and understand deep technical concepts • Experience navigating regulated industries and/or government contracting (preferred +) • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, business, or related field (advanced degree a plus) • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to synthesize information across technical, commercial, and regulatory domains • Excellent communication and presentation skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team • NYC-based or willing to relocate to New York
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior venture capital or private equity experience in space tech, aerospace, defense, or related sectors • Experience with government contracts (SBIR/STTR, OTA, cost-plus structures, etc.) and regulatory frameworks (ITAR, CMMC, DFARS) • Technical background or advanced degree in aerospace, electrical engineering, or physics • Successful track record investing in or supporting moonshot/deep tech companies • Familiarity with space economy landscape and current market dynamics
